Traffic Accident with Fire Outbreak in Dilijan Turns: Casualties Reported

On August 16, at 20:55, a call was received by the regional crisis management national center, reporting a traffic accident with a fire outbreak 2 km from the tunnel on the M-4 highway towards Dilijan, with casualties confirmed.

Two firefighting crews from the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Tavush regional rescue service were dispatched to the scene. It was discovered that vehicles, a "VAZ-2107" (driver: Pap M., born 1993) and a "VAZ-21010" (driver: Ruben S., born 1981), collided in the twists of the M-4 Dilijan highway, resulting in a fire breaking out.

The fire was contained by 21:15 and extinguished by 21:40. The "VAZ-2107" was fully burned, while the "VAZ-21010" was partially damaged.

Before the rescuers arrived, the drivers and passengers Karine B. (born 1967) and Astghik S. (born 1996) were able to escape the vehicles with local assistance and were hospitalized at the Dilijan Medical Center, where their health conditions were assessed as satisfactory.
