500,000 Dram Sold for One-Year-Old Son: Police Details
The investigative officers of the Masis division of the police received information that a resident of Masis city sold her one-year-old son months ago. On August 14, in cooperation with the Criminal Police and the Ararat regional department, the validity of the received information was checked, and the 35-year-old woman was summoned to the department.
It turned out that in order to sell her son for 500,000 dram, she had come to an agreement with a couple residing in the Nubarashen community of Yerevan. On May 5, they went to the territorial division of the Civil Registry in Masis, where the Yerevan-based man acknowledged paternity and they obtained a new birth certificate.
Days later, the biological mother received 200,000 dram from the agreed 500,000 dram, and later the couple paid her an additional 100,000 dram, after which they concluded their agreement.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The circumstances are under investigation. A preliminary inquiry is ongoing.
