In Yerevan, the Psychology of 'Lyubimchik' Directors and Elite Schools Continues: Member of 'My Step' Faction

Member of the National Assembly from the 'My Step' faction, Sofia Hovsepyan, wrote on her Facebook page: 'The pandemic has prominently brought to light the issues of artificially inflated schools. I am curious how a classroom of 30 students can be divided into three groups, and as a result, all classes in the school can accommodate students. I am looking forward to September to understand why, for example, Nikol Aghbalian's School No. 19 continues to accept 250 students and what is exceptional about this school such that many others in Yerevan should close, yet School No. 19 continues to enroll 250 first graders, even though it previously operated in two shifts. Or why A. Pushkin's School No. 8 has only 159 first graders in its Armenian classes when it also operates in two shifts.

How will classes be organized for these ten designated schools, and which group of children will suffer from this? I hope this leads to a conclusion that next year, the influx of first graders into similar schools will decrease by 3.4 times. The only school whose license number has been reduced is the once most privileged Chekhov School No. 55.
