Casualties from Beirut Port Explosion Reach 171
The number of casualties from the explosion at the Beirut port has reached 171, with 30-40 individuals still reported missing, according to a report by "RIA Novosti," referencing the Lebanese LBC television channel.
Acting Minister of Health Hamad Hasan stated that around 1,500 people require specialized medical assistance. It is known that a powerful explosion took place on August 4 at the Beirut port.
Hundreds of homes and vehicles were destroyed or damaged, windows shattered in many neighborhoods of the Lebanese capital, and some buildings were completely destroyed.
Lebanese authorities report that the cause of the massive explosions in the port area was 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse, which had been confiscated by customs six years ago.
