About the Tragic Events in Akhalkalaki: Shirak Torosyan

Dear compatriots, the current situation benefits only our enemies, who will try to deepen the instability from their dens and take advantage of it. This was stated by Shirak Torosyan, the president of the Javakhk Patriotic Union, on his Facebook page.

“Dear compatriots, it is with deep sorrow and great concern that we learned about the tragic events that occurred in the city of Akhalkalaki on August 8, which resulted in the death of one young man, with injuries reported, destruction of property, houses set on fire, and cars damaged.

The internal stability and unity of our friendly Georgia and particularly the Javakhk region are vital for the Armenian and Georgian states. Therefore, we urge everyone to maintain calm, not to fall for provocations, and to refrain from making decisions and taking actions in this shocking situation that could lead to new tragedies and irreversible losses.

In the current tense situation in our region, a wartime environment can be triggered at any moment along the borders of Armenia and Georgia. The brave fighting spirit of Javakhk Armenians should only be utilized in such cases, while the resolution of these tragic events must be handled solely by the law enforcement agencies of Georgia.

We express our deepest condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and loved ones of the young man from Kulikam who was killed,” he wrote.
