Brawl in Ejmiadzin: Wooden Objects and Tools Used, Injuries Reported

The investigation unit of the Vagharshapat Police Department is preparing materials regarding a brawl that occurred on August 7 in the Ararat region.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the Vagharshapat Police received operational information that on the same day, around 16:00, a dispute took place in a park on Mashtots Street in the city of Ejmiadzin involving residents of the village of Amberd: 58-year-old Manvel Babayan, 23-year-old Mayis Babayan, 40-year-old Vachagan Minasyan, 39-year-old Sargis Jghuryan, and 23-year-old Gevorg Sedrakyan, as well as 22-year-old Aram Sedrakyan. During the exchange, insults were hurled and blows were exchanged.

On the same day, S. Jghuryan and Manvel Babayan were taken to the Vagharshapat Police Department on suspicion of causing bodily harm, and after giving explanations about the incident in the investigative department, they were released.

The Vagharshapat Police are taking necessary operational-search measures to locate V. Minasyan and Mayis Babayan. The investigator has ordered a forensic medical examination.

Police have information that wooden objects and some kind of tools were used during the brawl. According to G. Shamshyan, one of the participants in the altercation, Manvel Babayan, is the head of the Amberd community, while Mayis Babayan is his son.
