Three Outlets at Khorenatsi Meat Stands Found with Non-Slaughterhouse Origin Lamb and Pork Meat Batches
As part of ongoing veterinary epidemic monitoring, the daily supervision conducted by the State Service for Food Safety of Armenia since July 25 has yielded positive results. This information has been reported by the Government of Armenia.
At the start of inspections at the Khorenatsi Street meat stands (adjacent to the GUM market), only one of the operators had a valid veterinary certificate No. 5 confirming slaughterhouse origin of meat. As of today, almost 30 stands have shown no doubts regarding the slaughterhouse origin of the meat and by-products, and all had the appropriate accompanying documents in place.
The early morning controls by the State Service for Food Safety have also confirmed improvements in the conditions for transporting meat as well as the sanitary-hygienic state of the stands. Meat products are now being transported in compliance with sanitary-hygienic standards and other established norms, and all employees possess sanitary books.
Only three outlets were found to have batches of lamb and pork with non-slaughterhouse origins, and their sale has been suspended. Reports have been prepared, and inspections will be initiated with consequences that may entail administrative responsibility.
The requirement for slaughterhouse carcasses has become mandatory across the country since July 1, 2020, and the enforcement of this norm will remain a priority for the State Service for Food Safety as long as violations are recorded during inspections.
