Avinyan Allocates Court Compensation to Students' Tuition Fees
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan announced on his Facebook page: "Dear compatriots, I filed a lawsuit against the Politik.am website for defamation back in the autumn of 2018. The court of first instance approved the lawsuit, and in addition to publicly refuting the allegedly defamatory factual data, I requested compensation.
As I had promised earlier, I have allocated the entire monetary compensation of 1 million drams to pay the tuition fees for two outstanding students in the Master's program at the Faculty of Journalism of Yerevan State University.
The role of the media in the formation and strengthening of a democratic society is crucial. I am confident that by continuing to fight against defamation and fake news, as well as through the advancement of education, we will contribute to the establishment of professional and impartial journalism traditions.
