Georgian Government Bans Wizz Air and Ryanair Flights

The Georgian government has prohibited Wizz Air and Ryanair from operating flights in August. This was reported by 'Alic Media.'

In August, there are regular flights only to Paris, Munich, and Riga. Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava confirmed in a conversation with reporters that the government has not granted flight permissions to the mentioned low-cost airlines. The reason is the pandemic situation in the country.

“Let me explain once again why working with Ryanair and Wizz Air takes more time than, say, Lufthansa or Air France. The first ones are low-cost carriers, and to maintain low prices, they need to operate flights twice a week. At this stage, they have officially proposed more than 10 destinations. This means over 20 flights a week and a large influx of passengers. Our country is not ready for this yet. We must protect our main achievement: the health of the population,” said the minister.
