Yerevan Resident Imports and Sells Drugs from Mexico via Mail
The Enforcement Department of the State Revenue Committee continues its relentless fight against the illegal transportation of drugs and psychotropic substances across the borders of the Republic of Armenia. Recently, information was received by the department's anti-smuggling division that a resident of Yerevan was illegally importing drugs from Mexico and selling them in Armenia through postal deliveries.
As a result of urgent operational-intelligence measures, it was learned that a package had been imported from Mexico under the name N.G., which was suspected of containing drugs. Officials from the Enforcement Department and the 'Zvartnots' customs office, in cooperation with the Armenian Police's Department for Combating the Illegal Circulation of Drugs, conducted a customs inspection of the package imported from Mexico at the 'Cargo' complex of Zvartnots Airport.
During the inspection, 1,000 blots of LSD were discovered concealed within the side walls of the package's cardboard box. Following this incident, a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of the State Revenue Committee based on Article 267.1 of the RA Criminal Code, and searches were conducted at three different addresses in Yerevan based on the court's decision.
At one of the addresses, significant quantities of marijuana, hash oil, methamphetamine, and cocaine were found, along with a Smith & Wesson pistol, switchblades, and large sums of cash. T.G., the resident of the aforementioned address and the husband of N.G.'s daughter, has been arrested in connection with the criminal case under investigation.
Note: The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law by a final verdict of the court.
