VIDEO: Azerbaijani Nationals Assault Armenian Youth in Istanbul
As the situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border has somewhat stabilized, Azerbaijani nationals residing around the world have launched an unprecedented campaign against the Armenian diaspora. The Armenian community in Turkey has not remained untouched by Azerbaijani aggression.
The Armenian newspaper "Agos" based in Istanbul reported that a young Armenian was recently assaulted by a group of Azerbaijanis in the Gümüşpala district of Istanbul. The mother of the young man informed the newspaper that the attackers initially asked questions about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and, despite receiving the response that "we are not interested in such matters," they proceeded to launch an attack.
Footage of the group assault was circulated on social media by the assailants themselves. It has been revealed that in the same district, two other Armenians over the age of 50 have also fallen victim to similar attacks in recent days. Additionally, in a shop owned by an Armenian woman, Azerbaijani individuals assaulted the staff.
Moreover, Turkish-Armenian parliamentarian Garo Paylan has stated that he met with Istanbul's governor, Ali Yerlikaya, to discuss solutions to the emerging situation.
