Seven Armenians Arrested in Moscow Released

The Union of Armenians in Russia has issued a statement regarding the incident that occurred on the night of July 23 in Moscow involving Armenians and Azerbaijanis. The statement notes, in particular:

“The seven Armenians arrested yesterday evening, who had contacted the Union of Armenians in Russia's hotline, were released this morning. Dear compatriots, we ask you not to react to provocations, including the irresponsible statements of new ‘public figures’ who are taking advantage of the emotional situation of their fellow countrymen who have been attacked by organized groups of Azerbaijanis. These figures decide nothing even within their family circle, yet they make irresponsible calls to gain ‘likes’ on Facebook and create discontent during live broadcasts that dishonor their people and their country, putting our community in a difficult position and causing unrest. Be vigilant. Stay calm. We are in communication with each other.”
