This Must Be Stopped Immediately: Armenia's Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan Appeals to International Organizations
Armenia's Human Rights Defender, Arman Tatoyan, has drawn attention to attacks on ethnic Armenians by Azerbaijanis in several countries, urging international organizations to take note of these incidents. On his official Facebook page, he reminded that Azerbaijani assaults on individuals based on ethnic affiliation have been occurring in various countries recently.
The Ombudsman stated that evidence of these attacks, including videos and reports collected through alerts, as well as public materials, confirms that the assaults are motivated by hate towards Armenians (armenophobia). These attacks are characterized by provocative behavior and are aimed at unprotected civilians, often catching them off guard.
In his appeal to international organizations, Tatoyan emphasized that these incidents must be stopped immediately to prevent further tension and dangerous developments. “Today, I will send official letters to international organizations,” he informed.
He urged compatriots to remain vigilant and refrain from provocations, asserting that no actions prohibited by law, including those against defenseless individuals, should be tolerated. It is crucial to exclude any phenomena that could contribute to dangerous developments and escalate tensions.
Earlier, it was reported that attacks had occurred against Armenians in Moscow last night. Videos shared online show an Armenian license plate vehicle being attacked, with the driver and an elderly man being beaten, along with other men standing on the street.
The relations between Armenians and Azerbaijanis living in various countries have been strained due to the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Clashes have been reported in Russia, France, the USA, Poland, Lithuania, and other nations.
