Technical Inspections for Taxis and Buses Over 10 Years Old to Occur Every 6 Months: New Decision
The government has made a decision during its meeting today to implement amendments to the "Law on Ensuring Road Traffic Safety." According to the amendment, the first technical inspection of vehicles will be conducted in the fourth year following their release.
Vehicles that are over 4 and up to 10 years old, including light passenger taxis, trolleys, and buses, will undergo technical inspections once a year, while vehicles over 10 years old will be inspected every 6 months. Technical inspections for light passenger cars, freight vehicles, passenger vehicles with up to 8 seats, and motorcycles over 4 years old, including those that are 10 years old, will occur every two years. However, for light passenger cars over 10 years old and other vehicles in this category, inspections will be conducted once a year.
The draft also stipulates that newly imported vehicles over 4 years old since their release must be presented for a technical inspection before registering the vehicle with the Road Police for the first time.
“Driving a vehicle that has not passed the technical inspection as prescribed by law, or has faults or conditions that prohibit operating the vehicle set by the government, will result in a fine equal to twenty times the minimum wage for the owner or holder of the vehicle,” states the amendment to the law.
