“Fight us face to face, let’s see who wins”: Aliyev to the Armenian authorities
Ilham Aliyev, during a ceremony to donate cars and apartments to the families of Azerbaijani soldiers killed in the recent military operations at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, urged the Armenian authorities to fight against Azerbaijan "one-on-one" and stated, "then we will see who wins." This was reported by minval.az.
The President of Azerbaijan claimed that supposedly "Azerbaijan dealt a crushing blow to Armenia, after which Armenia sought help from the CSTO and achieved no results." According to Aliyev, before appealing to the CSTO, "Armenia should remember how it offended this organization by arresting its Secretary General without coordinating with the other countries."
It should be noted that according to the latest data, the Azerbaijani side officially confirmed 12 casualties, while the Armenian side reported 4 casualties. It is also important to mention that the Armenian side did not turn to the CSTO for assistance.
According to the CSTO’s legislation, there is a relevant article stating that if there is an attack, one should request assistance. We did not request it. Our aim was entirely different—to inform our partners about the situation. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharian in an interview with reporters in Minsk, responding to the CSTO's reaction regarding the actions unleashed by Azerbaijan at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
