Russia's Defense Ministry Announces Readiness of Covid-19 Vaccine
The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the readiness of a Covid-19 vaccine developed by Russian military virologists in collaboration with the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
“The final assessments of the results from the tests conducted by our specialists and scientists from the National Research Center have been completed. At the time of discharge, without exception, all volunteers developed immunity to the coronavirus and felt normal. Thus, the first domestic vaccine against the new coronavirus infection is ready,” stated Ruslan Tsalikov, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, in an interview with the newspaper "Argumenty i Fakty.”
He noted that the first group of volunteers did not need to remain in the hospital, and after passing verification analyses, they were discharged on July 15. The second group of volunteers completed their participation in the second phase of clinical trials on July 20.
Tsalikov also mentioned that Russian military virologists are actively working on developing vaccines against dangerous diseases, which determined the involvement of volunteer servicemen in the creation and testing of the coronavirus infection remedy.
