No Shelling Has Occurred in Our Communities Throughout the Day; Damage Recorded, Says Armenia's Ministry of Defense
No shelling has occurred in our communities throughout the day. The Armenian Ministry of Defense reports that residents have had the opportunity to return to their daily activities. This has allowed, albeit in some risky situations, for recovery efforts to be carried out.
By the end of yesterday, repairs to infrastructure were completed, including the restoration of water supply lines and irrigation systems, which enabled people to return to their normal work and engage in agricultural activities today.
Simultaneously, a damage assessment has also been carried out, and the process is nearly finished. A full evaluation will be completed within a week.
As of today, 12 houses have been identified: 6 in the village of Aygepar and 6 in the village of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, where recovery work can begin.
During the assessment, houses were discovered that had been shelled not just in recent days, but during previous shelling incidents as well. These homes will also be renovated during the ongoing construction work. These efforts are being carried out by local construction companies and builders, as well as by our compatriots who have been unable to travel abroad due to the pandemic. This does not mean that safety standards have been violated during these days.
Recovery work is also being carried out in civil protection systems, including planned upgrades in shelters. Vehicle inspections have been conducted, and additional medical equipment has been provided to outpatient clinics, while villages have received ambulances.
Checkpoint controls along the road to Berd continue from Chambrak, Ijevan, and Vazashen. The purpose of the checkpoints is to maintain overall supervision over exits and entries, ensuring that aid is delivered more effectively in case of potential escalations.
