Azerbaijan's Leadership Takes Adventurous and Reckless Actions, Says Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Azerbaijan's military-political leadership has found itself in a deadlock due to its shortsighted policies. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan on her Facebook page.

“On the morning of July 16, the Azerbaijani armed forces resumed operations towards the state border of Armenia through assault groups, targeting the regions of Movses and Aygepar, accompanied by the use of mortars and artillery. After a proportional response from the Armenian Armed Forces, the Azerbaijani forces were pushed back with losses. Failing to achieve success on the battlefield, Azerbaijani units have shifted to shelling the villages of Aygepar and Movses, criminally targeting civilian infrastructure and the local population.

It is notable that this aggressive action has occurred in violation of a previously agreed cessation of hostilities and after a statement by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, which recorded the establishment of relative calm at the borders on July 15.

Azerbaijan's military-political leadership has ended up in a deadlock due to its own shortsighted policies and is now taking adventurous and reckless actions, for which it will also have to answer to its own people. The Foreign Minister is in constant contact with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. In the current situation, efforts to unconditionally and completely restore, maintain, and reinforce the ceasefire are imperative.”
