Azerbaijan Reports Sporadic Gunfire; Situation Remains Calm, Says MoD Spokesperson
The operational situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border continues to remain calm. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan, in a post on her Facebook page.
“Sporadic gunfire has been recorded from the Azerbaijani side,” she wrote.
It should be noted that on July 12, around 12:30 PM, servicemen of the Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to breach the state border of Armenia towards Tavush in a UAZ vehicle for unclear reasons. Following a warning from the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani servicemen abandoned the UAZ vehicle and returned to their positions.
At 1:45 PM on July 12, Azerbaijani armed forces again attempted to seize the Armenian military's border position, using artillery fire, but were suppressed by Armenian forces and retreated after sustaining losses.
The Azerbaijani side continued shelling on July 13 and 14. According to official reports, the Azerbaijani side has 11 fatalities, while the Armenian side has 4.
