From Today, Georgia Enforces Fines for Not Wearing Masks

As of today, a new law in Georgia, approved by the parliament last week, comes into effect, which stipulates fines for not wearing masks. According to the law, individuals not wearing masks in public enclosed spaces will be fined 20 lari. Legal entities allowing individuals to enter their public enclosed spaces without masks will face a fine of 500 lari. Passengers using public transport without masks, including metro passengers, will also be fined 20 lari.

Bus drivers are required to wear masks, and in taxis, both the passenger and the driver must wear masks. According to Aliq.ge, the new regulations also prohibit mass gatherings, such as weddings, birthday celebrations, mourning ceremonies, and similar events, effective immediately. Such events must now be conducted with no more than 10 people. In the case of larger gatherings, each participant will be fined 2000 lari. Repeated violations of this law will result in criminal liability.
