Many Doctors Infected in Gyumri: Dozens of Police Officers in Self-Isolation
According to today's data from the Shirak regional administration, 68 patients are being treated for coronavirus at the Gyumri Infectious Diseases Hospital, 45 of whom are residents of the Shirak region. Fortunately, there have been no new deaths reported in the Shirak region during this time, and 28 patients have been transferred to Yerevan.
The relatively low number of patients at the Gyumri Infectious Diseases Hospital does not mean that the infection is not widespread in the region. According to the same official data, currently, 758 citizens are under home self-isolation in the Shirak region, of which 118 have a positive diagnosis with asymptomatic progression, and monitoring is being carried out by the primary health care system.
As reported by Aravot.am, dozens of police officers from Shirak region have self-isolated. The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted investigations in various police departments of the Shirak region, where carriers of the virus were found everywhere, both in the Akhuryan police department and in the Gyumri “Kumair” and “Mush” divisions. Each department had 1-3 infected individuals, which has led to dozens of police officers receiving self-isolation recommendations.
In recent days, new cases of infection have also been reported among healthcare workers.
