Russia Sees No Issues with Budget Allocations for the Operation of the Armenian NPP

The work on extending the operational timeline of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) is still ongoing. This was stated by Sergei Kopirkin, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia, during a press conference.

Kopirkin deemed it inappropriate to comment on media reports suggesting that the Armenian side has refused Russian financing for the extension of the NPP's operational timeline. According to him, of the $270 million loan, $200 million has already been spent.

“Unfortunately, the work has not been completed by the end date of the intergovernmental agreement. I will not discuss the reasons; they are various. After all this, the question arose about extending the loan. In this regard, consultations have been held and are being held between the finance ministries of our countries. As far as I know, no agreements have been reached yet, and the question is still not closed,” noted Kopirkin.

The ambassador emphasized that the Russian side has no issues regarding the involvement of Armenia's own funds, and the parameters of the work to be carried out in the future have already been coordinated.
