Some High Positions Remain Vacant, but the Prime Minister Is Not Rushing to Make Appointments: 'Jamanak'

It has been a long time since several high positions have remained vacant, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan seems to be in no hurry to make new appointments. The Ministry of Environment has been without a leader for a month now, following the resignation of Erik Grigoryan on May 5.

The noteworthy aspect here is that the deadlines for introducing a new minister have been violated. According to Article 5 of the Law on the Structure of the Government, when there is a change in government membership, the Prime Minister is supposed to present a candidate for the new government member.

Moreover, as stipulated in clause 4 of the same article, 'if the candidate for the new government member is not presented simultaneously, the Prime Minister must present the candidate to the President of the Republic within a 15-day period.' As noted, a month has passed since Erik Grigoryan's resignation, yet no new appointment has been made.

On May 14, the chairman of the Higher Qualification Committee, Sambat Gogyan, also submitted his resignation, leaving that position vacant as well. His resignation has not yet been approved, and the process is currently suspended. Meanwhile, the head of the Urban Development Committee has been vacant for four months, with committee staff losing hope of having a new leader.

'Jamanak' newspaper inquired with the Prime Minister's spokesperson about when the appointments might take place. In response, Mane Gevorgyan did not specify any timelines, stating that they would inform when decisions are made.
