Restaurant Employees Hold Protest Outside Government Building

Today, June 5, restaurant employees staged a protest in the courtyard of the Government building, demanding the reopening of restaurants.

In discussions with journalists, protest participants stated that they had sent a letter to the Government on May 20, expecting a response within 2 or 3 days, but they had not received any reply.

“The survival of everything is dependent on the opening of restaurants – from agricultural products to beauty salons and delivery services. Closing businesses for several hours is unacceptable; can we open restaurants and operate? Let them come the next day and close us for 24 hours instead. All restaurant managers would agree to work one day and not the next. In my family, there are five of us. I received a support of 25,600 drams, which covers a bit of electricity and a little gas. I am grateful to the Government for that, but can you really support a family of five on just 30,000 drams?” said one protester.

Another protester emphasized that if their issue is not resolved, they will come to the Government yard with their children.
