Over 1000 Children Infected with Coronavirus in Armenia
In the Republic of Armenia, there are more than 1000 children infected with Covid-19. The information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.
"As of June 2, 1013 children have been diagnosed with coronavirus, of which 479 are aged 1-8 years. One case of Kawasaki syndrome has been confirmed in a child," the response to our inquiry stated.
It should be noted that on June 3, the Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, reported that a case of Kawasaki syndrome had been diagnosed in a 4-year-old child who had experienced an asymptomatic coronavirus infection. Kawasaki syndrome was first identified by Japanese pediatrician Tomisaku Kawasaki in 1967. This unusual syndrome, named after the doctor, is recorded only in children, mostly under the age of 5. It is characterized by inflammation and damage to blood vessels, which can lead to cardiovascular diseases.
