First Coronavirus Case Reported in Javakheti
On June 2, a 44-year-old resident from the village of Gourma in the Ninotsminda municipality was transferred to the Gori military hospital after testing positive for coronavirus. Tigran Yeghoyan, the director of the Ninotsminda Public Health Center, stated in an interview with Alik Media that the patient from Gourma has shown a mild positive result. "The patient is a virus carrier, but we can assume that they are not contagious as they show no symptoms. Four family members will be moved to a quarantine zone. As for other residents of the village, we are still waiting for directives to carry out the necessary measures," Yeghoyan said.
It is noteworthy that on June 2, ambulance workers transferred the resident from the village of Gourma, who had recently returned from Russia. They had undergone mandatory 14-day quarantine in Gudauri, returning only two days prior on May 31.
