20-Year-Old Killed in Turkey for Listening to Kurdish Music

On May 31, a 20-year-old was killed in Ankara for playing Kurdish music in his car. This has been reported by Ermenihaber.

Family members of Barış Çakani shared in an interview with the Mezopotamya news agency that the motive for Çakani's murder was listening to Kurdish music.

Meanwhile, the Ankara governor's office released a statement indicating that Çakani played loud music in his car at the time of the azan (Muslim call to prayer) and that the incident occurred immediately after he was warned.

It has been noted that three assailants stabbed the young man in the heart. An investigation has been initiated by the Ankara public prosecutor's office, and the perpetrators have been arrested.

A relative of Çakani mentioned to the media that they had previously been attacked for listening to Kurdish music.
