Former Mayor of Armavir's Misconduct Uncovered
Within the framework of cooperation between the RA NSS and the police, operational-investigative measures undertaken by the officers of the Main Department of Criminal Police have resulted in obtaining factual data indicating that the former mayor of Armavir, according to preliminary data acquired during the investigation, abused his official powers. Without the relevant decision of the council members, on January 25, 2010, with the assistance of competent officials of the municipality, using counterfeit official documents prepared by them, he made a decision on January 26, 2010, based on the results of an organized illegal competition. This decision granted a 360 square meter public development land plot located on Yerevan Street in Armavir for a duration of 75 years for the construction of a trading and service facility to a former president of the Football Federation of Armenia, resulting in significant damage to the Armavir community.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the apparent criminal act. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances. The investigation is ongoing.
