The Housing Issue of Another 185 Families Displaced from Azerbaijan Has Been Resolved: Government
The government made a decision in its session today, May 27, to initiate the second phase of the housing program for individuals displaced from Azerbaijan, which will involve the issuance of certificates for the purchase of apartments.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, noted that particularly, 2 billion 169 million drams are allocated to solve the housing issue for families living in temporary shelters in the administrative districts of Central Yerevan, Erebuni, Nor Nork, Arabkir, and Davtashen.
He recalled that in the first phase in 2019, 1.5 billion drams were allocated to address the housing issue for 112 families, whereas this phase concerns 185 families.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan inquired about the amount of money allocated per family. Papikyan responded that it depends on the size of the family and other criteria: “In any case, it is sufficient to purchase an apartment in different parts of Yerevan.”
“Of course, they will not be able to buy in the center, but they will be able to purchase in other administrative districts,” Pashinyan noted. It was also mentioned that there has not been such a decision for the city of Yerevan before, as these individuals have been living in temporary shelters since 1988 or 1990.
