One-Month Food, Hygiene Supplies, and Other Essential Item Packages for Around 900 Families
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the NGO 'Youth for Progressive Armenia' have signed a memorandum of understanding, under which humanitarian assistance will be provided to 900 families living in Yerevan and surrounding communities in the form of one-month food, hygiene supplies, and other essential items, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reports.
The purpose of the memorandum is to address the socioeconomic issues that arose due to the spread of the new coronavirus in Armenia and to provide targeted and tailored support. Assistance will be given to low-income families living in Yerevan and surrounding communities who are in need of humanitarian aid and have found themselves in difficult life situations, particularly those whose members have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus infection and are excluded from government support programs.
Within the framework of the memorandum, the 'Youth for Progressive Armenia' NGO will not only provide one-month packages of food, hygiene supplies, and other essential items to 900 families but will also inform citizens about health preservation and preventive protective measures and activities.
To implement the work, the NGO will recruit and train volunteers. The organization will also cover all necessary expenses during the provision of humanitarian assistance, including the acquisition and transportation of food, hygiene supplies, and other essential items, printing of informational flyers, expenses for spaces, equipment, medical and protective gear, and other administrative costs.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will, in turn, provide data on citizens in need to ensure the targeted nature of the process. Assistance provision will begin on June 1st. The parties noted that effectively overcoming the social consequences of the pandemic is only possible through constructive cooperation between government bodies, the private sector, and civil society, which the work carried out within the framework of the memorandum will be directed towards.
