Police Convince Relatives of Assaulted Kajaran Resident to Withdraw Complaint: Statement
Police are attempting to persuade the relatives of an erroneously arrested and assaulted resident of Kajaran to withdraw their complaint regarding the violence from the police.
This information comes from a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Kajaran Municipality, which states:
“Dear residents of the Kajaran community, yesterday’s spontaneous gathering essentially concluded as the Chief of Police of Armenia personally guaranteed that those responsible would be held accountable to the full extent of the law. However, due to the actions of police special forces today, the situation in Kajaran remains tense. The police are trying in every way to convince the relatives of our fellow citizen who was wrongly arrested and assaulted to withdraw their justified complaint regarding the violence from the police.
In the current situation, we urge our fellow citizens not to fall for provocation in any way, and we call on the police to cease their illegal actions and eliminate the artificially created tense atmosphere in the city. We are monitoring the developments closely and will respond as necessary.”
