Brazil Ranks Second in COVID-19 Cases
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Brazil has reached 330,890, according to data provided by the Brazilian Ministry of Health and Johns Hopkins University. The number of deaths in the country has increased by 1,001 in just one day, bringing the total to 21,048.
Brazil is now second in the world in terms of the number of confirmed cases, surpassing Russia (326,448). The country only trails the United States, which has recorded 1,600,782 cases. In the last 24 hours alone, there have been 20,800 new confirmed cases, setting a new record.
Among Latin American countries, Brazil is the leader in both infections and deaths. The epicenter of the outbreak in the country is São Paulo state, which has approximately 76,800 infected individuals and over 5,700 fatalities attributed to the virus. Earlier, the World Health Organization reported that South America, particularly Brazil, has become a new epicenter of the pandemic.
