New Zealand Prime Minister Proposes Four-Day Work Week to Restructure Economy
The Prime Minister of New Zealand has proposed implementing a four-day work week as a means to restructure the economy in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. This information was reported by The Guardian, referencing a live stream from the Prime Minister's Facebook page.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern stated that the country's borders remain closed to foreigners, heavily impacting the tourism sector. She also suggested other flexible measures related to work schedules to boost domestic tourism.
According to her, people have a strong desire to travel, but their busy work schedules hinder them from doing so. In addition to the four-day work week, the Prime Minister proposed increasing the number of holidays or non-working days.
