One Person Arrested in Connection with Violence Threat Against Nikolay Baghdasaryan
On May 11, Armenian Parliament member Nikolay Baghdasaryan submitted a report stating that due to the performance of his official duties, on April 11, 2020, around 17:10, an unidentified individual threatened him with violence while riding a bicycle.
This was reported by the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
“On May 13, 2020, a criminal case was initiated at the Arabkir division of the Armenian Police under Part 1 of Article 316 of the Armenian Criminal Code (Violence Against a Representative of Authority), which has been sent to the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Yerevan City for further investigation and has been accepted for proceedings. A decision has been made to recognize Nikolay Baghdasaryan as the victim in the criminal case,” the statement from the Investigative Committee said.
“As a result of operational and investigative measures, the identity of the individual suspected of committing the crime, a resident of Ejmiadzin born in 1980, has been established. Charges have been filed against him under Part 1 of Article 316 of the Armenian Criminal Code, and a motion has been submitted to the court to select a detention measure, which has been satisfied. Investigative and other procedural actions are being carried out to ensure a complete, objective, and comprehensive examination of the case,” the statement added.
