Conscripts Forced to Reach Recruitment Office by Expensive Taxis
The Human Rights Defender's Office has received an alert from a relative of a conscript. A conscript from a nearby settlement of Yerevan is forced to use taxi services under emergency conditions when public transport is not operating, in order to present himself at the recruitment office located in Yerevan.
He cannot fail to appear, but cannot afford to pay for taxi services either. The alerting party reported that a one-way trip costs between 3,000-4,000 dram, and when additional health facility referrals are considered, it turns out that the conscript is compelled to pay a large amount for undergoing medical examination.
Previously, we reported that there were alerts about the violation of safety regulations established to prevent the spread of the coronavirus at the Abovyan Recruitment Office.
