BHK Statement on the Altercation in the National Assembly
The Prosperous Armenia Party has issued a statement regarding the incident that occurred in the National Assembly.
“The Prosperous Armenia Party considers the unpleasant incident that took place in the National Assembly today as unacceptable. Such occurrences contradict the principles of parliamentarism, political culture, and democracy. In a country that has transitioned to a parliamentary governance system, violence must be rejected, and any issue, especially within the legislative body, should be resolved not through force but through civilized dialogue and, when necessary, constructive criticism.
The Prosperous Armenia Party calls on its parliamentary colleagues to return to a field of mutual respect, tolerance, and constructive work. Such unpleasant incidents should never occur again.
Especially now, as the country faces a pandemic situation, a state of emergency, and an economic crisis, the numerous problems that already exist have now been compounded by new ones. It is each of our duties to unify our efforts to confront the existing challenges, overcome the economic crisis, and alleviate the social plight of the people. This should serve as a lesson for all political forces.
Each of us must exclude such incidents from our conduct and work towards the prosperity and development of our homeland, for the welfare of our people.”
It is noteworthy that today a fight took place in the National Assembly between Sasun Mikaelyan and Emon Marukyan.
