Etchmiadzin Municipality on Removed Trees

Etchmiadzin Municipality has issued a statement regarding the ongoing discussions about tree removals in Vram Kostanyan Street. The statement reads:

“Dear fellow citizens, videos are circulating online showing trees being cut down on Vram Kostanyan Street. We would like to inform you that after the renovation of the asphalt concrete surface on Vram Kostanyan Street, landscaping work has begun during the spring tree planting season. This information was published on April 19 on the official pages of the municipality.

As part of the landscaping works on the green zones along the sidewalks of Vram Kostanyan Street, soil enhancement and fertility improvement works have been carried out. Four large and diseased trees planted along the street have been removed. In order to ensure uniform landscaping, several young saplings have also been taken out. In their place, twice as many trees have been planted, which are globe-shaped catalpas, a high-quality tree species that grow rapidly.

According to Etchmiadzin’s landscaping program, each street should feature the same species of trees with targeted selection of plants and trees. Therefore, we assure you that the landscaping program will not only improve the city's appearance but also enhance the air quality in the city.”
