COVID-19 Infections Could Reach 10,000 by End of May, Says Torosyan

COVID-19 infections could reach 10,000 by the end of May. This was stated by Health Minister Arsen Torosyan during a press conference with journalists.

“This number is high in the sense that it is more than we can keep under control, and we will likely send some people home, but it is not so high that we won’t be able to manage severe and critically severe cases,” he said. He added that the figure he mentioned in the National Assembly regarding a potentially explosive situation due to the easing of restrictions, with the number of infected reaching 500,000, was not just a random number. It was based on an assessment by the World Health Organization about a month ago, which suggested that Armenia could face 500,000 cases, tens of thousands of hospitalizations, and thousands of deaths.
