Raids in Offices and Homes of Gagik Khachatryan's Sons Conclude with No Findings, Lawyer Says
The simultaneous raids conducted in the offices and residences of Gagik Khachatryan's sons, the former head of the State Revenue Committee and finance minister, have concluded with no findings. This information was reported to NEWS.am by the Khachatryans’ lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan.
"Nothing was found; they were likely looking for documents. These raids had actually been conducted a long time ago, as searches are usually performed in the early stages of a case," Sargsyan stated.
According to Sargsyan, the completion of charges against Gurgen Khachatryan and the conduct of these raids are connected to a recent statement made by Khachatryan: "These actions leave no doubt that everything possible is being done to exert pressure."
It is noted that Gurgen Khachatryan had claimed that there was a demand for the privatization of Ucom company at the level of high-ranking officials, threatening with more serious charges and arrest if refused.
Regarding the completion of charges against Gurgen Khachatryan related to the criminal case against Sedrak Arustamyan, director of Multi Group company, Yerem Sargsyan said, "These are absurd charges. If Sedrak Arustamyan returns these loan amounts, can you imagine what they will say? They will claim he took back the bribe. It’s obviously absurd."
It should be mentioned that a petition to arrest Gurgen Khachatryan has been submitted to the court. Yerem Sargsyan noted that a hearing was scheduled for today but has been postponed at the request of Gurgen Khachatryan's lawyers for reviewing the materials.
Recall that today the Khachatryan legal team announced that charges against Gurgen Khachatryan have been supplemented with money laundering and facilitating bribery.
