Fine of 20,000-30,000 Drams for Parking in Spaces for Disabled Persons
During a session of the Yerevan Council, the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, announced that parking in designated spots for disabled persons cannot simply be considered a minor violation, which carries a fine of 5,000 drams. He stated, ‘It cannot be like this; there should be a fine of at least 20,000 drams, if not more. This is a globally accepted practice where sufficiently high fines—equivalent to 300 dollars or euros—are imposed for such violations. Naturally, we cannot have fines at that level, but if a fine of 20,000-30,000 drams is set and our traffic police enforce it, I believe it will yield results,’” Marutyan said.
