Lukashenko Brings Belarusians Out for Subbotnik
On April 25, a nationwide subbotnik was held in Belarus, despite the World Health Organization's recommendation to cancel all mass events. Preliminary data indicates that 2.3 million people participated in the subbotnik. President Alexander Lukashenko, senior officials from the government, and local self-government leaders personally took part in the event.
As of April 25, there have been 9,590 reported cases of coronavirus in Belarus, with 67 patients having died. Notably, participants in the subbotnik were not wearing masks, and gloves were used solely for work purposes.
