Giant Sinkhole Formed on Shiraz Street Due to Incomplete Manhole Construction
It is a fact that asphalt paving works have continued in Yerevan even in rainy weather in recent days; however, unfortunately, a giant sinkhole has emerged on Shiraz Street in the Shengavit administrative district due to incomplete construction of a manhole, creating a real nightmare for drivers. On April 24, SHAMSHYAN.com received five reports at different times from the specified area, and the drivers justly raised concerns that their vehicles had been damaged because of the sinkhole.
“No traffic lights or safety signs have been installed, while the Yerevan City Hall and the Shengavit community administration were obligated to ensure that the organization responsible for the incomplete work addressed this issue before restoring the manhole,” they stated.
The media outlet is trying to find out who is responsible for the manhole: is it 'Veolia Jur' or 'ArmenTel,' as some of the reporting residents mentioned that a water line runs through the area while others pointed out the presence of telephone cables.
