The Armenian Tricolor Flag Will Now Fly in Front of Historic Ani
On the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian tricolor flag was installed near the Armenian-Turkish border, very close to the historic site of Ani, alongside a cross-stone. According to Armenpress, the flag is 21 meters high and measures 10 meters in length and 5 meters in width. The erected cross-stone has been consecrated.
The symbolic ceremony was attended by Shirak Governor Tigran Petrosyan, Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan, other officials, and guests. The flag is one of the largest installed in Armenia and is clearly visible from across the border. “Certainly, it was very emotional and symbolic. The flag has risen right in front of the ancient capital of Ani, symbolically on April 24, which encapsulates an important thought: we have been, we are, and we will be. Borders and border communities must be filled with the spirit of Armenians and become stronger,” remarked Shirak Governor Tigran Petrosyan in his speech.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the Aslanyan, Khranian, and Grigoryan families living in Russia.
