Government Urges to Turn Off Apartment Lights for 3 Minutes on April 23 at 21:00
On April 23, at 21:00, church bells will ring for three minutes, and the lights in Yerevan and regional squares and streets will be turned off. This information is provided by a post on the Armenian government’s Facebook page.
“At the same time, we urge citizens to turn off apartment lights and turn on their phone lights, joining the action titled 'Moment of Light for Remembrance.' During this time, R. Patkanian's song 'Come My Nightingale' will be played, and everyone's gaze will turn towards the Tsitsernakaberd memorial,” the source states.
It has also been noted that the event will be broadcast live.
Additionally, from April 24, starting at 08:00, citizens can send a message to the short number 1915 from Armenia, and to 0037433191500 from abroad. “The names of citizens who send messages will be displayed on the columns of the memorial, thus symbolizing their participation and tribute to the memory of the Holy Martyrs,” the announcement emphasizes.
According to the report, at 10:00, the President of Armenia, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Catholicos of All Armenians will visit Tsitsernakaberd. “The tribute ceremony will be accompanied by a live performance by the acclaimed pianist Hayk Melikyan. The tribute will begin with an artistic program on that same day at 22:00, featuring performances from state collectives and individual artists. The program will include works from different genres, both classical and folk, which will be broadcast live until dawn,” states the government's Facebook page.
