Of Course There Is Something to Say: Ararat Mirzoyan on Karekin II's Statement
At this moment, I see no need to say anything additional about this. This was stated today by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, during a meeting with journalists, referring to the well-known statement of Catholicos Karekin II and the subsequent reaction of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.
Mirzoyan added that when there is a necessity, he will definitely express his opinion.
In response to the question of whether it is appropriate for the Deputy Speaker to speak in such a manner about the spiritual leader, Mirzoyan said: “If we start talking about who is appropriate for what, there would be a lot to say. At this moment, I see no need to say anything additional. It would not be beneficial for our state and nation at this time. Of course, there is something to say, there is certainly an attitude, but I do not want to say it. I am speaking directly and honestly.”
It should be noted that Karekin II considered it important to release Robert Kocharyan from custody, while Alen Simonyan reminded that the public had previously demanded the resignation of the Catholicos as well.
