Don't Politicize Nationality: Russian Ambassador to Russian Citizens Remaining in Armenia
The issue of repatriation for Russian citizens located abroad, including those in Armenia, is under the attention of Russian authorities. This was stated by Sergey Kopyrkin, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Armenia, in a video message on Facebook.
According to him, the resolution of this issue depends on the situation stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, as both air and ground transportation have been halted. He assured that they are also negotiating with the Georgian authorities on this matter, which prohibits entry and exit from its territory.
The ambassador mentioned that there have been unreasonable criticisms directed at them, particularly on social media. He asks Russian citizens remaining in Armenia to be patient. The ambassador also urged not to politicize nationality, emphasizing that for them, individuals with Russian passports, regardless of their nationality, are important.
