The Number of Coronavirus Deaths Worldwide Exceeds 100,000: Worldometer
The number of deaths from the new coronavirus worldwide has surpassed 100,000, with 1,647,624 confirmed cases and 369,079 recoveries reported. This is according to the data from the online resource Worldometer.
In Europe, Spain has overtaken Italy in the number of infected individuals. The country has registered 157,053 cases, with 15,970 resulting in death. Italy remains the leader in terms of death toll, with 147,577 confirmed cases and 18,849 deaths.
Germany has recorded 119,624 cases (2,607 deaths), followed by France with 117,749 cases (12,210 deaths), and Switzerland with 24,548 cases (1,001 deaths).
In Asia, China tops the list with 3,336 deaths reported since December of last year and 81,907 confirmed cases.
In Iran, the death toll has reached 4,232, with the number of infected individuals at 68,192.
The United States leads the world in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases with 478,098, of which 17,919 have resulted in death. The infection has spread beyond China's borders into 204 countries.
