Situation in Azerbaijan is Getting Out of Control: Karen Hovhannisyan
Kurdish and Turkish studies expert Karen Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page: “In Azerbaijan, it seems that the situation is getting out of control; however, knowing the military-political leadership of that country, I believe they will resort to brutal measures.
Protests are taking place in almost all major urban areas. Those who are isolated and have completed their 14-day quarantine are protesting, as they are neither being tested nor allowed to return to their homes. Representatives of the service, trade, and food organization sectors are also protesting, as no government support has been provided to them.
Meanwhile, the situation on the Russia-Azerbaijan border is increasingly escalating. Azerbaijani citizens returning from Russia find themselves in tent conditions in quarantine after crossing the border. Those who have transported the remains from Russia are also in quarantine, and the most ridiculous part is that the body has been near the Russia-Azerbaijan border for the third day now, lying in a coffin simply placed on the ground.”
