Intensive Operations at Upper Lars Checkpoint Following Its Reopening: SRC
The State Revenue Committee has announced that due to weather conditions, the Upper Lars checkpoint was mainly closed during March. This resulted in significant congestion of vehicles transporting goods from Armenia to EAEU member countries or third countries.
Following the reopening of the Upper Lars checkpoint between Georgia and Russia, it is now operating intensively. The relevant authorities in Georgia are organizing columns of vehicles consisting of 30 cars and facilitating their transport through Georgian territory in periodic intervals, accompanied by relevant escorts, until reaching the Upper Lars transit point.
The customs authorities of Armenia are in operational contact 24/7 with their counterparts in Georgia and the Russian Federation, working to reduce the existing congestion in both Armenia and Georgia, as well as to promptly address emerging issues.
Currently, the road leading to the Upper Lars checkpoint through Georgian territory is closed due to adverse weather conditions.
