Several Employees at Vardashen Penitentiary Infected with Coronavirus

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia conducted sampling for coronavirus testing at the Vardashen penitentiary, resulting in the diagnosis of COVID-19 in one of the employees from the Security Department of the facility. Following necessary and prompt actions, COVID-19 was also identified in four other employees from the same department.

All five individuals have been isolated in healthcare institutions. It is also noted that these employees perform their duties outside the residential area of the penitentiary and have no contact with incarcerated individuals or convicts.

Currently, an additional 28 employees from the Security Department of the Vardashen penitentiary have also been isolated, and sampling is being conducted.

Necessary anti-epidemic and preventive measures continue to be implemented in the penitentiary institutions.
